Why I Enjoy The Rainy Season
It’s the rainy season here and although it’s starting to taper off, I’ve enjoyed many aspects of it.
( Yeah I know some people hate it..)
First off, the rains cleans up Freetown like nothing else and reduces foul odours on the streets. In addition, there are fewer mosquitos as breeding places disappear. Plus fewer flies. And oh did I say, the town is lush green with such richness especially the mountains…
In addition, the temperature drops right down and there’s no need to use A/C.
This for me is the best as the heat during the dry season can be forbidding. Rain water can be also be stored and used for household chores such as washing the car etc. The amount of rain water that is wasted is mind boggling
Disadvantages include: no lazing on the beach, little or no outdoor activity, immense muddy puddles or shall I say pools especially in Lumley. Recently, I’ve seen more gutters being built to ease the poor drainage in Freetown. Hope this continues as several people have died due to flooding.
My best, BEST reason for liking the rainy season is the sound of the rain on the roof which makes you want to “snooze” all day!!
