Celebrating 3 Years In Sierra Leone….
Approximately 3 years ago, yesterday, we arrived to live in Freetown on a permanent basis!
WooowwwW! Sooo..oo much has happened since then, I’ve learnt a lot and overall, I’m VERY happy we came. We are all happy including the children and we look forward to a brighter future and a better Sierra Leone.
When we came, we arrived into a dark capital with only few lights dotted around on the hills, today light is available almost 24/7! Now, that’s something! And I’m brimming with hope and excitement.

Government To Scale Down 50th Anniversary Celebration From $25Million
Why am I not surprised?? I came across the article the Premier News newspaper printed on January 14, 2011.
Apparently, celebrations will be reduced drastically because of inadequate funds to implement the project. The information and communication Minister Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo made the disclosure on Thursday 13th Jan, 2011 while addressing the press at the ministry’s weekly press conference in Freetown.
I can’t type the whole article here,

Business Bomba 2 Underway & See The Successes Of The Previous Winners
After the success of the first Business Bomba Business Plan Competiion, the second edition is now underway with business plan application date closing yesterday 14th of January, 2011. A short list of 60 business plans will be made out of the total of more than 400 applications so far for intense training and finally the deserving winners will be selected. Winner will walk away with Le100million leones (about $25,000) which is not bad at all!
The first Business Bomba, helped a great deal and at the here are pictures of some of the products currently on the market by 3 of the Top 20 prize winners.
Moringa Tea
I’ve tasted it and it’s similar to Green Tea. Tastes better without milk. and oh I add honey from another Business Bomba winner
Organic Honey
This is my favourite of all! This honey doesn’t cake in the fridge as most of the imported others you get at the super market
If you are a wholesaler/retailer and you fancy pure organic honey, just send me a note and I’ll get back to you. This product is pure Salone joy!
Dr Eammons Pineapple Juice
Contains about 6% alcohol. Having tasted it, it’s not bad at all. The labelling can be better but this is a Sierra Leone product worth exporting!
There are at least 3 more products- like cattle farming, cocoa plantation and cassava factory – that I know about which the respective owners have developed and are very promising…
Update
Recently bought home-made sierra leone chocolate…hmmm things are happening….. will bring you more info on that one.

Happy New Year From Sierra Leone!
Happy New Year to all my family, friends, business associates and all who visit this site! May all your dreams be fulfilled this year, 2011.
I can’t believe 2010 has already passed. Boy how time flies. It seems like I just blinked and it’s gone!
Here in Sierra Leone, it’s been an ALL night party and MONSTER traffic…ARRRGHHHH. Boy it took as more than 1 hour from Atlantic Bar to Lumley roundabout last night! As I write this morning, Lumley is quieter in contrast to the party revelry that carried on till the early hours of this morning! Boy people know how to party and the beach does offer the perfect setting!

Electricity Situation December 2010
This year has been a year of MUCH, much better light here in Freetown. Now put together we’ve had light on about 300 days so far even before the year completes. For some it has been better others worse depends on where you live.
Most of the problem with light has happened towards the end of this year when the road works began. As I write, some areas close to Wilkinson Road and Congo Cross have not had light for 6 weeks or more now as the old electric poles are being relocated.

3 Reasons To Clean Up Freetown
In terms of sanitation things are better than a few years ago but there’s still a mighty long way to go. Several years ago, rubbish collection was more or less non-existent and I remember when there was a big pile of rubbish at Lumley roundabout and the taxi I was using got stuck
there with no way to roll the windows up except for the driver to get down and physically pull the windows up!!! Oh my, I still laugh when I remember it. Thankfully that pile of rubbish has been cleared.
But really rubbish on the streets is no laughing matter. For the past 10 months or so, rubbish collection has been getting better, that is, until about 2 weeks ago. One only has to watch the news to see how Haiti is suffering with cholera. God forbid that in Sierra Leone,
So here are 3 reasons why Freetown needs cleaning up and stay clean:
